DUTCH STREET THEATRE IN MEXICO
The company Close-Act THEATRE will perform at
Festival Internacional de Teatro de Calle Zacatecas
Two monumental street theatre productions “Malaya” and “Globe” by the Dutch company Close-Act Theatre, will participate in the twenty-first edition of the FITCZAC to be held from October 12 to 19 in Zacatecas.
The company is honoured to get the opportunity to present two of their major performances on the festival.
The performance “Malaya” will be on October 12 and 13 at eight at night in the Plaza de Armas, a work that launches the street theatre programming.
The performance “Globe”, a large street theatre spectacle in and around a 50 feet large sphere, will be presented for the closing weekend on October 18 and 19, also at eight at night.
In 2011, the company had a toured across Mexico performing at FITCZAC and festival Cervantino where they had a huge success with their performance Pi-Leau.
This year, the International Street Theatre Festival will have the participation of local, national and foreign groups, who will fill the historic centre of the capital of Zacatecas, Cultural Heritage, with magic and art with the presentation of multiple works in its squares and plazas.
In addition, in this 21st edition, it is intended to support and strengthen cultural tourism, promoting Zacatecas as an attractive destination to visit.
The state’s Tourism Secretariat was given a recognition for the International Street Theatre Festival, in the “Best of the Best” awards.
Founded in 2002, this year a special edition of the festival is expected, and it will exceed the 80 thousand spectators that were registered in 2023 with the participation of 14 theatre groups.
